Select grains prices up on increased offtake

New Delhi Firm conditions prevailed on the wholesale grains market today as wheat and rice prices firmed up on increased offtake by flour mills and stockists.

Bajra and barley also moved up on increased demand. Marketmen said increased offtake by flour mills to meet the ongoing marriage season demand mainly led to rise in wheat prices.

They said increased demand against restricted arrivals helped rice basmati prices to trade higher.

In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) rose by Rs 20 to Rs 1,590-1,595 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded higher by the same margin to Rs 1,600-1,605 per 90 kg.

Atta flour mills, maida and sooji were also traded higher at Rs 850-870, Rs 900-950 and Rs 950-980 from previous levels of Rs 830-850, Rs 860-890 and Rs 920-950 per 50 kg respectively on pick up in demand.

In the rice section, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 shot up by Rs 500 each to Rs 7,300-7,400 and Rs 6,900-7,500 per quintal respectively. Permal raw, wand, sela and IR-8 were also finished higher by Rs 100 each to Rs 2,050-2,150, Rs 2,325-2,375, Rs 2,550-2,600 and Rs 1,700-1,750 per quintal respectively.

Bajra and barley too traded in positive zone with a rise of Rs 10 each at Rs 1,350-1,355 and Rs 1,450-1,460 per quintal respectively.

The following are today's quotations per quintal: Wheat MP (deshi) 2,050-2,250, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,590-1,585, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,600-1,605, Atta Rajdhani

(10 kg) 210, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 210, Roller flour mill 850-870 (50 kg), Maida 900-950 (50 kg) and Sooji 950-980 (50kg).

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 9,500, Shri Lal Mahal 9,500, Super Basmati Rice, 9,000, Basmati common new 7,300-7,400, Rice Pusa-(1121) new 6,900-7,500, Permal raw 2,050-2,150, Permal wand 2,325-2,375, Sela 2,550-2,600 and Rice IR-8 1,700-1,750, Bajra 1,350-1,355, Jowar yellow 1,425-1,450, white 2,250-2,450, Maize 1,510-1,540, Barley 1,450-1,460, Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
