Crime against Women by PoorIndian on 15 Jan 2013

Rape is no doubt a heinous crime, but isn%u2019t time that we do some introspection of the values of we build in our society? Unicef reported that 50 million women are missing in India because of female foeticide and infanticide. Isn%u2019t it a genocide against humanity? Childhood neglect of girls is another problem and many women die early in adulthood. Dowry is certainly a curse on us. This has resulted into higher ratio of boys than girls (35% in Punjab, 28% in Haryana, 12% in Rajasthan, more than 10% in Gujarat, HP, Maharashtra & Orissa). This clearly demonstrates that between 1 in 10 and in places even 1 in 3 Indians have murdered a girl either before or after birth. Even the rich and modern cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, and Ahmadabad show some of the worst child sex ratios. What happens when the men do not find a women for a match? Kidnapping, murder, rape and so on. What we Indians are doing now is just treating the symptoms, not the disease.
