A group of hooligans, allegedly belonging to Shiv Sena, who were protesting against the celebration of Valentine’s Day, forced their way into a restaurant in Nai Mandi area of Muzaffarnagar city and beat up some boys and girls on Tuesday.
Police said the group included about ten men and five women, and raised slogans against the celebration of Valentine’s Day.
Nai Mandi Station Officer Vinod Singh Sirohi said the other customers sitting inside the restaurant left in panic after the intruders started beating up the boys and girls. He added that those attacked did not suffer any serious injuries.
Police was called by restaurant owner Awadhesh Garg, but the intruders left before they arrived. An FIR against unidentified persons was lodged on the charges of trespass and rioting.
Sirohi said two of the accused were identified as Bhuwan Sharma and Manoj Saini, both residents of Muzaffarnagar city, and members of the Shiv Sena. He said the police were trying to arrest them.
