Mumbai Actor Sikander Kher has been signed up for 'Aurangzeb', a Yash Raj Films (YRF) project.

Directed by Atul Sabharwal, the film will also star 'Ishaqzaade' actor Arjun Kapoor in a double role. It will see Jackie Shroff and Amrita Singh come together after almost two decades. Rishi Kapoor will be donning the role of a villain in the film.

“Sikander is doing an important role in 'Aurangzeb',” an official from YRF said.

'Aurangzeb', rumoured to be a fresh take on the 1978 blockbuster 'Trishul', will hit the theatres next year.

Sikander, on his part, was evasive about his role. “There is nothing that I can talk about it. Right now it is too premature. We will talk about it later. Till there is something substantial to talk, let me struggle quietly.”

Sikander began his acting career in 2008 with Sanjay Gupta and Ekta Kapoor's 'Woodstock Villa', a musical-thriller, which also featured newcomer Neha Oberoi and Arbaaz Khan. The film did not do well at the box office.

His another release in the same year was 'Summer 2007', directed by debutant Suhail Tatari. Starring Gul Panag, Yuvika Chaudhary and Arjan Bajwa, this movie, too, failed at the box office.

Even Ashutosh Gowariker's patriotic biopic 'Khele Hum Jee Jaan Sey' (2010), based on the Chittagong uprising of 1930, did not give any boost to Sikander's acting career.

The 31-year-old's last release was Abbas-Mustan's action thriller 'Players', an official remake of 2003 Hollywood crime film, 'The Italian Job'.

He played a pivotal role alongside Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Bobby Deol, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Omi Vaidya, but 'Players' failed to impress the audience.
