Lucknow The Economic Offences Wing of the UP Police has filed an plea in the Allahabad High Court, requesting to transfer the investigation into a case of fraud against Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh, his wife Pankaja Kumari, Amitabh Bachchan and others from the Enforcement Directorate.

The court had transferred the case to the ED in May last year. “We have prayed before the court to transfer the investigation to EOW, as ED does not have power to probe charges under IPC sections,” said EOW chief Suvrat Tripathi.

State counsel Akhilesh Singh said the court told ED and EOW to submit their status reports by September 21.
