Both countries have also asked their citizens to keep monitoring the news to avoid any confrontation with any demonstration in the vicinity.
Commenting on the issue, Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi assured the safety of all foreigners.
"The whole country, including Delhi is safe. If one incident has happened, then there is no need to panic like this. Our law and order are intact," said Alvi.
BJP spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said it is an upsetting situation and such advisories should not have been issued.
"I don''t think that such advisories should be issued. We have our own country and our own arrangements. But right now, the nation is angered and saddened as well," said Naqvi.
“Not only has the government''s image gone down in the country, but the country''s image has also gone in the rest of the world. The government is not ready to call an all-party meeting, nor a special session of the parliament, but only ready to discuss about it in the Congress office,” said another BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain.
Samajwadi Party leader Kamal Farooqui said that the advisories were uncalled for and was an attempt to undermine the position of the country.
“The situations in Delhi are completely fine. Obviously, if there were democratic processions, then there would be traffic problems and inconvenience in travelling. But there has been no incident of violence or that any foreigner has been harmed by any of our youth. I believe this is uncalled for and they should withdraw it,” said Farooqui.
In the advisories, American and British citizens have been asked to avoid the areas in and around central Delhi as persistent protests taking place after the December 16 incident in which a young paramedical student, severely beaten, raped and thrown out of a moving bus here.
It is justifiable act by the US and UK because they give at most importance to the freedom and safety of their citizens unlike indian government which provides security only to hooligan politicians and waste fellows of the nation.
ye sab kya horaha hai yar? wot is this. Kuch karo.....bring young and dynamic politicians and officers.....do something yar. Remove this old stock.
The US and UK governments are correct. They have to protect their citizens from the rapists and their politician buddies who run amuck in India. The protesters are peaceful and the international community is well aware that it is the rogue political climate in the country which is a grave concern. Wait till the UN slaps them for human rights violations. This should become an International issue and these illiterate buffoons in the govt. should be given a snub from the international community.
Shame on such Indians who bought shame to nation!
If our govt would not take to strong action through our youth protesters at least they should have to take lesson from these advisories& take immediate action accordingly for sake of the country.
In all the countries mentioned there are plenty of crimes. But in the other countries we do not witness such an ease with which crimes agains women are negelected as they were by Indian society. Fortunately we now see that decently thinking citizens don't accept the negligence anymore. And what happens? They are the ones who are seen as criminals by their authorities. No I won't advice my daughters not to visit India because of the protestors, I would advice them not to go there because of the attitudes in relation to women in general.
USA & UK are right. Who else in India is safe than the VVIPs and police? Pratibha Patil who contributed nothing to the nation is still getting 19 bodyguards that too for her family too. If she is so much afraid of why did she chose to become the president of the nation? Why should the tax payers money be wasted in such ways? Police on the other hand is working at those particular areas where they can make some quick bucks, especially the Delhi Police. They roam around in the areas where they can make some quick bucks, never ever concerned about the safty of the common people. If the govt is so much concerned about the advisories of UK & USA, why dont they try to make the country a safer place for the people? It is obvious that no country can be 100% safe for anyone. But the way our govts so far is acting, is only underlying they they have no intention to curb the crime, because by doing so, they will not get their part of the hafta vasuli, the policemen collecting from the publice...
Calm down, it's not like the USA and UK are saying not to come to India, just to follow the news and be aware of your surroundings. Each country has the right to look out for it's own!
Pot calling the kettle black - rate of rapes in US and UK is much more than in India ! Advisories such as these would damage tourism, which is a key industry for us; we need to encourage more tourists to visit India.
If India were a Communist Nation as our immediate neighbor, it is dead sure there won't have any news to see or read about Delhi rape incidents. Will our USA and UK friends agree to India become a Commie Nation?
UK/US govt issuing advisory to their citizens is correct - not that their own land is any more safe than India. We Indians don't have any choice - we have to face the music - but why should they, the foreigners, come down here? India is not a safe place for any one - unless he belongs to the VVIP category of MP/MLA/Minister.
Who care about their travel advisories ? Why do you give importance to their advisories. More people read your news than theirs. Don't give free advertisements to their advisories. I do not know when you guys learn to not publish their advisories
India should declare travel advise to USA because of the gun firing incidents in public places like school, theaters and religious places.
U.S.A and U.K. government value their citizens and want their citizens to be safe in another country and not like in India they don't care.
