Uma Bharati slaps party leader, says it's her right

Chhindwara (MP), November 5: Bhartiya Janashakti Party (BJS) President Uma Bharati slapped her party's district general secretary Anil Rai, believed to be close to BJS's breakaway faction, in full public view near the Government Circuit House in Chhindwara.

Party sources said Bharti got infuriated when Rai was supposedly disturbing a meeting between Bharati and several persons by repeatedly calling them over their mobile phones.

Rai, who is a supporter of BJS breakaway faction led by Prahlad Patel was asking people to come out of the meeting and that annoyed Bharati, sources said.

Bharati asked Rai to get down from his car and slapped him twice in front of people and party workers. However, Bharati later told a press conference that Rai was like her brother and she had a right to "love or hit him".

"Rai was violating the model code of conduct and therefore, invited my wrath," she said. However, Bharaati refused to disclose how Rai was violating the model code of conduct.

Rai, who was also present at the press conference said Bharati was like his elder sister and she had the right to "beat him or love him". Bharati also paid a visit to Rai's residence after the incident.

Poor Rai had but to concede Uma's right to hit her... "Phans gaya tadapna kai." Rai must hang his head in shame.

Latest news by real bharatiya on 06 Nov 2008

Graha Door Hua by Raj Kumar Kamal on 06 Nov 2008

Uma Bharti did it deliberately to avert evil graha off her party, and the hammer fell on poor Rai.I apologize on behalf of both!

She has a wrong temperament by Gpal on 06 Nov 2008

It was good that she was thrown out from the BJP. Her temperament was studied well within BJP and that's why no one wants her back with the Sangh Parivar.

Bad temperament; poor judgement by P Silhi on 06 Nov 2008

She should be thrown out of Indian politics altogether. And, of course, Rai should sue her in the court of law for assault and insult.

UMA by AKM on 06 Nov 2008

Assault is a criminal offence where we live and is punishable by minimum 3 months prison or more plus fine. This is not only an insult of a person who was assaulted but degradation of her ownself. She should be punished for this and also police must take this offence seriously.

Uma Bharti is ditto copy of Mamata Benergee. by Sanjay on 06 Nov 2008

Another example of “Noowatanki” from Indian politician. Uma Bharti joined the Lalu, Mullayam, Amar singh, Mamta Benergee, Mayawati’s Noowtanki style politics. Uma Bharti is ditto copy of Mamata Benergee. People need to be cautions from these types of leaders.God please save us(India) from these Jokers.

Definetely Not The kind Of Indian Leader The World Wants To See! by Deepali Gupta on 06 Nov 2008

This is despicable! A leader is supposed to show calm and peaceful conduct when agitated for any reason and handle any form of disagreement with non-violence. This display of violence by our nations leaders is ironic in a saddening way as we are the land of Mahatma Gandhi!

Say it with slaps. by TV Puram on 05 Nov 2008

Good style, new perceptions. Imagine Sonia Gandhi 'giving one' to Manmohanji? And of course, she is 'entitled' to discipline rookies if the party like Jyothiraditya Sindhya, Milind Deora, spokesman Tiwari, Sachin Pilot, etc. they are like her sons, and certainly, wards. Mamata didi will now carry a few lathis always. Jayalalitha will ask all Anmbazhagans and Kalimuthu's to line up at Poes gardens every morning and the chosen ones will be slapped. But no way with the left. They respect none, and VS will slap Pinarayi, who will land a left hook in return. Budhadeb and Biman Bose will actually organize a meeting in the ring. Anyway, politics wont be the same again, Jai Umabharthism!

Nice Work by Ramprakash on 05 Nov 2008

Thanks Uma you are not in BJP. You are free to do any thing as you are sanya-sin. Thanks for slapping Anil Rai and showing his real identty as a chakka (Politics has taken away Rais self respect and made him impotent). Uma, Mamta, Laoo, Rabdi devi, Mulayam, Paswan,Vaiko, Amar Singh, Karunanidhi, Antulay, Mayavati all of you should be slapped by public for the good you have done for this country.

She is real leader by M a h a d e v on 05 Nov 2008

That should be the spirit. She is a leader and a statesman.

this is a nonsense by Vineet on 05 Nov 2008

Uma bharti is a politician

Uma Bharati by Avinash Baranwal on 05 Nov 2008

Humm,Well, when top leaders can not control theior emotions - how can they expect the aam junta to behave in a decent manner.Sadly, in india anyone can become a leader. But the blame goes to the educated lots(including all of us) who never come forward to replace these cheap fellows.

well done Uma by Neetu Banga on 05 Nov 2008

Good conduct! ladies power... how to teach man? Indian males can only learn from this way.

Uma bharti's slap by Abhishek on 07 Nov 2008

Hi I also repect woman but this is not a way to teach leason at all you can express it in different way...If you are educated....right na?

Uma has gone out of sense by ranjit on 05 Nov 2008

Uma Bharati has now become a third rate cultureless woman. Should is now neither fit to be a sanyasini nor a public servant.

Family by RSS on 05 Nov 2008

This is ok in our Cultural Nationalism. Elder sister can slap younger brother. She did not hit a minority community person, no? You ppl should be happy. Don't interfere in the internal affairs of our parivar. Soon after Lok Sabha elections, Uma behen and Advani dadaji will kiss and make up. Oops sorry! touch the feet and make up (not facial make up you fool). Corrupt western culture ppls you all.

Shut up !!! by Indian on 06 Nov 2008

You ppl are making fun out of yourself. you idiots !!! She is unfit for anything and everything...

SADHUS by Naveed on 05 Nov 2008

Sadhu or Saddhvi means people with mild nature, love, patience, no anger. And here're our own Sadhvis Uma Bharati and Pragya. One is slapping a man infront of all and the other planting bombs to kill innocent people. Now, the sadhus shouldn't be called as sadhus anymore.

Bharati slaps party leader!! by Tapan Bose on 05 Nov 2008

I am simply GOBSMACKED by Bharati's childish behaviour!! This will never happen in a western country! In the west, such behaviour would result in she being charged by the police!! She is NOT ABOVE THE LAW!! Perhaps in India it will be brushed under the carpet!!

Rule of law in India by amit on 06 Nov 2008

Tapan this slapping incident is nothing so it does not need to be brushed under the carpet. People die, lives are ruined and so much more happens. THe law never appears because we have rule of law appears only in law books and everyone knows this. The police are powerless and the legal system is parpalysed by delays. Maybe the real pity is that the Indian leadership does not show the energy of action and the urgency to act. Look at Manmohans stock response to anything - set up a committee.

uma bharti rude (uncivilized) sadhvi by real bharatiya on 05 Nov 2008

uma is totally a 'nautanki'. If she cannot respect father-like advani, how can expect from her respect to junior party supporters. Still ppl remember that she insulted advaniji in front media camera

uma by Jiram mani on 05 Nov 2008

Good nut cases. Good that she was kicked out from BJP. I cannot imagine her becoming a minister in the next govt.
