Superstar Shah Rukh Khan joins other Bollywood personalities to mourn the death of 23-year-old gangrape victim.

Mumbai “I am so sorry that I am a part of this society and culture. I am so sorry that I am a man. I promise I will fight with your voice,” said superstar Shah Rukh Khan as he joined other Bollywood personalities to mourn the death of 23-year-old gangrape victim on Saturday.

The victim was taken to Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore for further treatment after her condition deteriorated. She was being treated at Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital after being brutally assaulted on the night of December 16 in South Delhi.

“We couldn't save u but wot a big voice u have, u brave little girl. That voice is telling us that rape is not an aberration, not a mistake. Rape embodies sexuality as our culture & society has defined it.

“I am so sorry that I am a part of this society and culture. I am so sorry that I am a man. I promise I will fight with ur voice. I will respect women, so that I gain my daughter's respect (sic),” said SRK, 47, who is father of son Aryan and 12-year-old daughter Suhana.

The heinous incident has triggered nationwide outrage with people taking to streets to demand death penalty for the criminals and better safety laws for women.

Yours are crocodile tears. You should have felt sorry for your manhood when you abused that poor policeman at the Wankh...stadium in Bombay. You should feel sorry when you are posining the minds of youth by your running around behind girls who are half your age on the screen.

If you were a man - not only anatomically but also humanly - you would stop producing the filth & scum you produce that has been equally responsible in conditioning the Indian male`s perception of woman. And yes, we as a society are equally responsible for consuming the filth & scum you produce as our everyday cup of entertainment. And yes, Mr. Khan, you have done your job now that you tweeted. Go back to your money making indulgence. Thats more important to you and your fraternity.

Mr. Khan by Hatim on 29 Dec 2012

Shah Rukh Khan, you stated in an interview with Anushka Sharma that you are double her age and do not forget that you are a Khan. I hope in your movies and comments you would change.

Only in India, media give a damn to what filmsters say by Laura on 30 Dec 2012

Only in India people pay attention and media goes after filmster's views on social issues. Like politicians, film stars live in a secluded world and for both groups it is how much more they can make out of ignorant public is all that count.

Respected sir Don't you think that it is a result of the view of treating woman like an object; called the objectification of women . What can you do ? surely nothing . movies are mirrors of a society; at least and at last they are presenting only sexuality on different wrappers , and we people wrap them , where are you standing : What do you think about contribution of bollywood movies in these type of accidents - Up to which extent those are responsible for the objectification of women. One can stand on Either right or wrong - there is no place in between . We are culprit and can not think of an Utopian society: i.e. Raam rajya of Mahatma Gandhi

Peace by Tirumal Mundargi on 29 Dec 2012

Let the daughter's soul rest in peace. She struggled a lot in the end for being a women in the capital of a supposedly largest democracy in the world. Democracy came to a standstill in the most infested city in the world, jokers issued silly statements as our Devi battled for life. There were jokers from media and political category as well. Just hanging of the six criminals will not clean the city. It needs a larger deworming dose and the people should think twice before they cast their valuable vote next time around. I fervently hope they have identified the jokers.
