Chandigarh A day after a BJP MLA from Rajasthan said that banning skirts as school uniform was a solution to crimes against women, in Haryana’s Jind, SP Saurabh Singh on Sunday suggested that women celebrate New Year at home.

Singh has given three suggestions to women planning to celebrate New Year. His press statement said that women should stay indoors with their family and celebrate New Year at home. If they want to celebrate in a hotel, they must not interact with strangers. They must stay away from alcohol, and in case of any untoward incident promptly inform the police.

Singh also cautioned parents, saying at times parents are not aware of where their children are celebrating the New Year, and come to know of it only when their children have committed some crime and the police have caught them. Singh was unavailable to explain his instructions.

Why not party in a protected place? by Pradeep on 31 Dec 2012

Let women party anywhere they like as long as police can provide security. Unfortunately, police can't provide the kind of security needed for women... so, I think there is nothing wrong with the "party at home" or a "party at friend's home" suggestion. Lets not throw our daughters to wolfs in the name of women liberation.

Why women? by Gagandeep Kaur on 31 Dec 2012

Mr. Singh, Wont it be the best solution if the men are told to stay at house after 6 pm?? and not to drink?? and not to go out without his mother/daughter/sister?? That'll also serve the purpose.

How Would Police Get the Booty by Ashok on 31 Dec 2012

It seems the said SP has gone nuts. If women, as advised by him, really decide to celebrate New Year at home, how is the police going to get its own share of the perverted joy of sexual gratification and assault on women who venture to go out of homes. Although police has been, over the years, trying its best to be at the forefront of this perverted birth right of men in our country, mercifully it is yet to start entering our homes to assault women. As of now, the police gets its prey in the police stations or places that a woman visits for assorted reasons similar to those of men. How can the wise SP talk of a loosing proposition for the entire police clan by asking women to desert places outside their homes where police finds its ready prey. Tomorrow, another SP would advise people not to commit crimes that would give a body blow to his clan's birth right to earn bribe money. Police's mindset that the mango people of banana republic are so used to , is getting drastically wrong!

Is this guy real? Cant believe that he is an elected official by Angry indian on 31 Dec 2012

God - is this guy real. Mr Singh - wake up - get an education and get real. Stop giving stupid advise. How about having stricter laws to punish the guilty

women should party at home by Prasanna Kumar Acharya on 31 Dec 2012

Now people of Jind should ensure that the women members of Mr.Saurabh Singh(SP)'s family should not party anywhere else than only inside the house. They should be follwoed by public even if they go to enjoy picnic, because as per Mr.Singh women should party at home. Hence charity should begin at home first.

And you should part on the moon! by conscience on 31 Dec 2012
