From Cong baiting to praising Patels, Modi set for polls

Rajkot/Vadodara Chief Minister Narendra Modi, whose month-long Swami Vivekananda Yuva Vikas Yatra will come to an end at Pavagadh in central Gujarat on Thursday, may have targeted the Congress all along in his talks, but in politically decisive Saurashtra, his yatra focussed mainly on the areas where bete noire Keshubhai Patel can play spoilsport in the December elections.

Modi’s chariot giving mehar and kharwa-dominated Porbandar district a miss and only touching koli and kshatriya-dominated Surendranagar district was the biggest indication that while he attacked central Congress leaders at each stop during his yatra, the former CM and veteran RSS leader was apparently not out of his mind.

While Modi did not take Vivekananda’s message to the districts where Congress has significance clout, his Saurashtra leg largely cut through the talukas where Keshubhai can possibly bank on pent-up anti-Modi sentiments among his Leuva Patel community. The community has a significant presence over some 20 seats in the region.

Dhoraji in Rajkot district is a stronghold of Congress heavyweight Vithal Radadia, where Modi addressed a meet on September 24, the last day of his two-day Saurashtra leg that started from Limdbi in Surendranagar district and covered Amreli and Bhavnagar.

In this phase, besides Dhoraji, he covered Botad, Gadhda, Dhasa, Lathi, Liliya and Amreli — where Leuva Patels can swing results.

The second leg of Saurashtra tour, which started from Dhandhuka and ended in Junagadh, covered Palitana, Savarkundla, Menderda, Keshod, Visavadar and Junagadh. Again, Leuva Patels can play a decisive role in all these constituencies.

Like Porbandar, Modi covered just one seat of Limbdi in Surendranagr, which houses six Assembly constituencies and where the Congress can claim support on par with the BJP.

The third phase of his Saurashtra leg covered two centres in Kutch before reaching the Morbi-Dhrol-Tankara-Jamnagar belt, which has dominance of both Leuva and Kadva patels. Earlier, he held Swami Vivekanand Yuva Parishad at Bhuj, a seat with a good number of Leuva Patels.

Senior BJP leader Vijay Rupani said, “The centers that have not been covered under Swami Vivekananda Yuva VikasYatra will see some programmes soon by the CM during election campaign.”

Gadkari, MP CM Chauhan may attend Pavagadh meet

VADODARA: Stage is set for a grand culmination of the month-long Swami Vivekananda Yuva Vikas Yatra of Chief Minister Narendra Modi at Pavagadh in the Panchamahals district on Thursday, which is likely to be attended by BJP president Nitin Gadkari and CMs of Madhya Pradesh and Goa.

Sources said he would started the last journey of the tour from Fagvel village in Kathlala taluka of Kheda.

“Party president Nitin Gadkari, CMs of Madhya Pradesh and Goa, Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Manohar Parrikar respectively, and BJP Gujarat affairs in-charge Balbir Punj are expected to remain present,” said Panchmahals BJP president Jayprakash Patel.

Mechanics of Narendra Modi's PR agency : APCO Worldwide - Orchestrating our Future by Shelley Kasli on 11 Oct 2012

Check out the workings of a PR Agency that goes by the name of APCO Worldwide and it's sister concern ASERO Worldwide and how it affects Indian politics and puts it's security and resources in jeopardy. Forming a strong base of case studies ranging from the discredit campaign on Michael Moore's Sicko to the 1Malaysia campaign and having dictators on it's client list we move forward to it's Zionist Connection and also on having Ex-Mossad's on it's member list along with many Bilderbergs. Finally it's concluded with it's proximity to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and also APCO's future plan for India. In terms of per capita income (PCI), in 2011, Gujarat ranked sixth among major states with PCI of Rs 63,996, after Haryana (Rs 92,327), Maharashtra, (Rs 83,471), Punjab (Rs 67,473), Tamil Nadu (Rs 72,993) and Uttara-khand (Rs 68,292).What about inclusive growth in Gujarat? Though Gujarat, with 31.8% people below the poverty line did better than Maharashtra and Karnataka, it still lagged behind Kerala, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana, where poverty levels were 19.7%, 20.9%, 22.9% and 24.1%, respectively.

The amount of per capita deposit and per capita credit for Gujarat was Rs 37,174 and Rs 24,268; while for Tamil Nadu, it was Rs 42,580 and Rs 47,964; Karnataka Rs 49,598 and Rs 38,154; and Maharashtra Rs 1,10,183 and Rs 89,575. Even Kerala did better than Gujarat with Rs 43,890 and Rs 27,912.

In the area of credit-deposit ratio, Gujarat is far behind other major states. In 2010, Gujarat's share in total deposits of the scheduled commercial banks was 4.70%, as against 5.42%, 6.20%, 6.34% and 26.60% for Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra, respectively. The share of Gujarat in total credit disbursed by these commercial banks was 4.22%; while the same for Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tami Nadu was 29.75%, 6.71% and 9.61% respectively.

.In FDI, too, Gujarat has not been a leading state. During 2006-10, Gujarat signed MoUs worth Rs 5.35 lakh crore with potential of 6.47 lakh jobs. But Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu with Rs 4.20 lakh crore and Rs 1.63 lakh crore worth MoUs, expect about 8.63 lakh and 13.09 lakh jobs. To top it all, Chhattisgarh and Orissa have signed MoUs worth Rs 3.61 lakh crore and Rs 2.99 lakh crore more than Gujarat without much fanfare and Modi's much-hyped industrial summits.

yatra by nikhil on 11 Oct 2012

During 2001-04, the rate of industrial growth for Gujarat was 3.95%, and during 2005-09, it was 12.65%. In isolation, this appears to be a phenomenal jump, but not so when compared to some other states. During these sub-periods, industrial growth for Orissa was 6.4% and 17.53%; for Chhattisgarh 8.10% and 13.3%; and for Uttarakhand 18.84% and 11.63%. Thus, the hitherto industrially backward states have far surpassed Gujarat

During 1995-2000 and 2001-10, Gujarat increased its annual rate of growth from 8.01% to 8.68%. But so is the case with other major states such as Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh. In fact, Gujarat was ranked second after Rajasthan (8.34%) in the first period and third after Uttarakhand (11.81%) and Haryana (8.95%) in the second period. What is remarkable, Bihar and Orissa, the two most backward and poverty-stricken states, have also shown growth pick up from 4.70% and 4.42% in the first period to 8.02% and 8.13% in the second period. Even smaller states like Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh have registered growth of 11.01% and 8.96%, respectively.

For the last several years, Modi has been successful in projecting his "vibrant Gujarat" as a role model of economic growth and himself as ''Vikas Purush". Though one must give due credit to Modi for his effective skills in making projections, one must also critically analyse this "growth story of Gujarat" based on facts and figures. Regretfully, as one examines the facts since Modi came to power in Gujarat in 2001, the story appears to be hollow and, at times, contrary to what is being projected.

i am leuva patel, but we never believe in cast vote policy, we give vote such person who work hard for this state. MR.Modi is lion of Gujarat as well as done good job for this state.

MODI-GUJARAT by N.ASTI on 11 Oct 2012

In 2007,as an appointee of NDTV,Mr Shekhar Gupta had toured Gujarat to assess ground reality(Only to opine against Modi at the behest of NDTV?)in Saurashtra and South Gujarat. All Chamchas of Congress, sitting in the A.C.room of NDTV on counting day started boasting as 'Modi is clean-bold in Gujarat as Saurashtra and S.G. have gone against him. This was their ground reality, which got boomranged within a very short time.Dream of Congress-rule in Gujarat went away in air.People in Gujarat are more cultured than those having paid-up tie-up with Congress.Gujaratis have seen black days of COMMUNAL Congress rule. The state was cut into pieces by KHAM disintegration policy. All democratic and peaceful agitations in the state got turned to communal riots led by Congress leaders. This, never reflected by the Congress(Secular?)-managed Media-Houses.Gujarat is tired of Communal Congress. And paid-News Media-houses will only help Modi by vomiting against him as Gujaratis know these people very well.

Modi;s yatra coming to an end by Arun Kumar on 11 Oct 2012

The reporter clearly shows his bias and is intemerate. " Shows Modi is not out of his mind" as if criticing the Congress reflects insanity on his part. Be more mature. Secondly, the English media is giving undue attention to Keshubahai Patel in the fervent hope that he will dent Modi. Good luck. Just watch, he will lose his deposit.

Modi The Only Option by Indian on 11 Oct 2012

Modi is hte only option before the people of Gujarat and India . He may have certain shortcomings but still he is far better then others.

Foolish English News Paper by Hitesh on 11 Oct 2012

Foolish English News Paper doesn't know ground reality and believes that People can votes only based on cast...Gujarati are smarter people and know what is good for their. It is media guess that leuva patidar are not happy with modi or they are with keshubhai....Gujarati - either Patel or Kashtriya Or Dalit - we what for the party / cm / pm - who works for the people. Modi is not a God and has many wrong done but He has been working for development too...Compare to other, he is less devil and best option for CM. Congress becomes synonyms of corruption and kathpootli of Sonia. We like to have lion run gujarat rather than poppet run by Delhi Sonia. Result of 2012 Gujarat Election - would show Congress & Keshubhai reality. Both are media projected party / leaders and doesn't have any ground support from people. Gujarati
