New Delhi Bollywood’s chocolate boy Ranbir Kapoor has urged the youth “not to take law into their hands” while addressing a press conference in Mumbai.

The 30-year-old actor reacted to the brutal gang rape of a 23-year-old medical student on the occasion of Hope 2012 organized by Tata Memorial Centre.

“I feel bad, I feel angered, I feel like doing something. But we just hope that, this kind of evil does not exist in our country or the world. And you lose hope, because when such cases come out, you feel it’s not a fair world out there, there’s no goodness in the world. There’s not much I want to say on this topic, than the fact that you feel really bad about it,” the ‘Barfi’ star said.

“Every other thing is personal for everyone. I see this (Delhi gang-rape) as a personal matter, as far as movement is concerned, I don’t believe the youth should indulge in it, or whether they should protest or not, however, I do believe they should not take law into their hands. Our Government and the Police are capable enough.

“Today anyone in the country is free to express his/her views, 20 years back it was not possible. Today they can stand for their rights. It’s good that they are standing up for themselves; however, they should not take law into their hands. Law should itself resolve this issue,” he added.

Youth should not take law into their hands, says Ranbir Kapoor by K. RADHAKRISHNA on 27 Dec 2012

The victim is a youth. She did not take law into her hands, Look at her fate. In defending the rights of the vulnerable people the demonstrators are strengthening the spirit of democracy. It is like my neighbour having conjunctivitis. If he does not become healthy it can affect anyone else including me. Alert police can protect all girls which includes near relations of politicians who claimed better understanding of the issue by virtue of their being parent of girls. Peaceful demonstration for safety of girls by selfless people is not taking law into their hands.
