Kolkata, November 08 At a time when Bengal Engineering and Science University (BESU) is facing tough times, university alumni came to its defence at a meeting with the members of the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).

After instances of violence on the campus, the authorities had asked the undergraduate students to vacate the hostel on November 6. A 14-member team of the NBA had an interaction with some alumni and recruiters on Saturday on the state of affairs.

Although not more than a dozen recruiters and alumni were present, the NBA team asked the alumni their views on the matter.

“The unrest on the campus is just a reflection of what is happening outside,” said a senior alumnus, adding that the institute attracts the best students and faculty.

“It was an important interaction with the members of the committee,” said Achyut Ghosh, a 1961 batch student.

Representatives of companies like Tata Consultancy Services, M N Dastur and Company, and McNally Bharat Engineering attended the meeting.
