Home Minister RR Patil and Additional IG (Prison) Meeran Borwankar at the closing ceremony of 10th state police duty meet in Hadapsar on Friday

Replying to a threat issued by terror outfit Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to strike Indian targets, State Home Minister R R Patil said on Friday those who will try to attack Maharashtra and Mumbai in future will be killed and buried in its soil.

“The Central government hasn’t officially conveyed to us about any threat from any group. But since the beginning of the operation of executing Ajmal Kasab, all precautionary measures were being taken and they will be continued. The state police is alert to tackle any emergency situation,” said Patil.

“Some terrorist organisations have issued threats to avenge Kasab’s death. I want to tell them that if they want to come and launch an attack on Maharashtra and Mumbai, let them come. But they will be killed and buried in the soil of Maharashtra,” said Patil.

He said as compared to November 2008, the security agencies were better prepared to tackle any such attack.

“In 2008, the group attacked us by breaking our security cover of Coast Guard and our Nnavy. They killed hundreds of innocent people and many of our illustrious police officers were martyred. Of the 10 terrorists, nine were killed and one was caught alive. By conducting a thorough legal process, we have not only shown the world that we believe in the supremecy of legal framework, but also that our judicial system has given a fitting reply by giving the culprit a death pentalty. Our police department, coast guards have higher manpower and are better equipped. We are still in the process of improving it further,” said Patil.
