Ambala:A laboratory attendant employed with the Electrical Department of Hindustan, College Dheen was injured seriously when he was fired at with a pistol by a young man whom the former was giving a lift to on his bike on Friday evening. The victim, identified as Sumit Kumar, was on his way to his village after doing his duty when a youth asked for a lift outside the college. As he proceeded towards Ambala, there was some dispute between the two and the youth shot at him with an unlicensed pistol, injuring him in his back. Sumit was taken to a private hospital from where he was rushed to PGI Chandigarh since his kidney had been affected. While fleeing, the assailant, identified as Shravan Kumar, left his pistol on the spot. The SHO Mullana reached the spot from where they recovered the pistol and registered a case against the assailant.
20-year-old girl commits suicide
Ambala:A 20-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by swallowing some poisonous substance in Buhr Mandi Ambala Cantonment last night. The victim, identified as Priyanka, was rushed to the civil hospital from where she was referred to PGI Chandigarh in view of her serious condition. She however, died on the way to Chandigarh. The postmortem was conducted in Civil Hospital, Ambala Cantonment. The doctors in their report stated that the death was caused due to inhalation of some poisonous substance.
