Kolkata Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Sunday met Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee at Calcutta airport and reminded him of the money allotted by the Centre for Cyclone Aila relief.

“Just a day after presenting his budget, Mukherjee had called state Finance Minister Asim Dasgupta and told him that the Centre was releasing Rs 478 crore as the first installment of the Rs 1,000 crore. He had also told Dasgupta that the Centre had sanctioned Rs 1,000 crore of the Rs 10, 000 crore that the state government had asked for building the embankment. But not a single rupee has been sent to us. The chief minister went to meet Pranab Mukherjee to remind him of the money,” an official said.

During the 30-minute meeting, sources said, both the leaders also discussed issues like the Land Acquisition Bill that was stalled by Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee. ens
