Abhishek Sharma, a nursery student at Usha Devi Convent School, was kidnapped by two unidentified motorcyclists while returning home in Gaddi Uday Raj village on September 11. In protest, around 50 private schools in Fatehabad area had remained closed for a week. The family did not receive any ransom call. Fatehabad Circle Officer Babita said they got information today that some criminals were staying in the house in Bicholi. The police raided the house and found the boy in one of the rooms. Initially, the police were not sure about the boy’s identity as he said his name was Suraj. They called Abhishek’s father Santosh Sharma, who identify the boy as his son. Santosh, who is a well-to-do farmer, said, “I believe the kidnappers changed my son’s name to hide his identity, and the boy also started responding to his new name.’’
Cylinder blast kills factory worker
Lucknow: A 28-year-old contractual worker died when an oxygen cylinder exploded at a mechanical unit of the UP State Bridge Corporation in Malviya Nagar under Bazaar Khala police circle on Wednesday afternoon. The victim, Sanjay, was a resident of Sitapur district. The police said it could not be ascertained how the explosion took place. On being informed about the explosion in the afternoon, they went to the site and found the mutilated body of Sanjay. No one else was injured. Circle Officer of Bazaar Khala Sarvesh Kumar Mishra said a portion of the unit’s building was also damaged in the explosion. Since today was a holiday, very few workers were present. “They were working on a machine some distance away, so none of them was injured,” said a police officer.
