Ludhiana There was a break-in attempt in the record room of general assistant (GA) to the Deputy Commissioner during Diwali holidays. The staff came to know about it when they came for work on Thursday morning.

There was an attempt to break the lock of the room and even the windowpanes were broken. Though the police have registered an FIR, so far the staff has not been able to make out which record had been stolen. Efforts were on to determine the loss.

The incident has raised serious questions about security measures in the DC office. DC Rahul Tiwari has asked the chowkidaar, who was deputed on duty outside the record room, to explain.

GA Areena Duggal said, “It seems that there was an attempt to steal as the windowpane was broken, but the lock could not be broken properly. So we have no idea as to whether the person went inside the record room or not. Still, we are finding out if any record went missing or not.”

The record room was being managed by the head registration clerk.
