All the three government hospitals have prepared special rosters of doctors in the emergency ward to make them available round-the-clock on Diwali night. At PGI, a team of five-six doctors will be on vigil at Advance Eye Centre, as doctors state that most casualties are related to eye injuries.

Similar arrangements have been made at GMCH-32 and GMCH-16 too. GMCH-16 has deployed three ambulances on special duty, apart from deputing two doctors each from surgery and eye departments. Also, that surgical items and dressing materials have been augmented and doctors are asked to remain on alert. At Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, additional nursing and doctoral staff would be on duty round the clock for two days, to deal with the cases of eye injuries and burn victims.

OPDs to remain closed

On Nov 13, OPDs at PGI, GMCH Sector 32 and GMSH Sector 16 will be closed.

The emergency services in the three hospitals would, however, remain open.
