No extra efforts in sanitation drive: Corpn
New Delhi: The South Municipal Corporation did not put in any extra efforts during its recent sanitation drive, launched ahead of Diwali. The admission came when Chairman of Standing Committee Rajesh Gehlot demanded a list of special efforts made to ensure that special sanitation drive was a success. “We just cleaned the roads and toilets with the resources we had. We did not do anything special,” an official said. Gehlot has now asked the Sanitation department to ensure that garbage disposal is done efficiently and a status report is filed.
AIIMS’s Jhajjar OPD inauguration on Nov 24
New Delhi: Patient services at the outreach OPD of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Bhadsa in Jhajjar, Haryana, will begin from next week. The OPD will be inaugurated by Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on November 24. In a statement issued on Tuesday, Hooda said Haryana would have the first AIIMS campus outside Delhi. AIIMS officials said the campus will hold OPDs in paediatrics, medicine, gynaecology and opthalmology.
42-year-old shoots self in Rohini flat
New Delhi: A 42-year-old man shot himself at his friend’s flat in Rohini, Northwest Delhi, on Tuesday evening. Ravinder Singh, a businessman who had returned from London recently, was suffering from depression, police said. Singh was staying at his friend’s flat in Millennium Apartments, Sector-21. “He shot himself with a licensed revolver, which belongs to the flat’s owner and his friend. We are questioning him (the owner) as part of our investigations,” a police officer said.
