Built at a cost of Rs 3.25 crore, the underpathway is 44 metres long and 12 metres wide.
While the nine shops in this pathway have not yet been auctioned, though the municipal corporation held the auction twice, the pathway has been thrown open to the public so that the traffic flow within the mini-secretariat can come down.
While the reserve price of these shops is Rs 18.5 lakh each and they are to be given on a lease for 30 years, not a single bidder turned up in two auctions organised by the MC. The third auction would be held soon, said H S Khosa, executive engineer from MC.
Dhillon said the underpathway of Aggar Nagar would be inaugurated in two months and another underpathway would be made near the bus stand.
He said to improve the traffic situation, the PWD Department had planned a new project worth Rs 350 crore for link roads of Ludhiana. Under the project, about 400-km-long link roads would be re-constructed. The project of eight-laning of Ludhiana-Chandigarh road had already been approved, he added.
Mayor H S Gohalwaria, councillors of the area and many SAD leaders were present on the occasion.
