Vadodara Four leopard cubs were rescued by forest department officials from a hole near a village in Junagadh district after a 40-hour operation.

The cubs were rescued Friday and reunited with their mother who had been kept at the Wildlife Animal Rescue Centre at Sasan in Junagadh district, Sandeep Kumar, Deputy Conservator of Forest, said. “Their reunion became possible after a 40-hour rescue operation conducted by our staff,” he said.

The staff learnt about these cubs after catching their mother, who had entered with them into a private field near a village of Maliya-Hatina taluka on February 5.

The female leopard was sent to the rescue centre and a search was launched for her cubs, which were spotted in a hole (bakhol) in a 50-metre-long tunnel near a check dam constructed across Meghnal river.
