Chandigarh On November 10, while Gurivi Reddy, the alleged mastermind of the PGI MD/MS entrance paper leak, was coordinating the sending of the leaked question paper, his co-accused Dr Ganga Dhar Reddy was allegedly solving questions sitting in a Patna hotel and was sending back the answers which Gurivi was then supposed to transmit back to the exam halls. As it now turns out, this was not the first time the Reddy duo were operating like this.

Investigations into the case have revealed that the association between Gurivi and Ganga Dhar goes back to their college days in Andhra Pradesh. Ganga Dhar was three years senior to Gurivi while it is still not clear whether they were studying in the same institution. Both of them, in fact, were first arrested in the EAMCET scam in 2010 in Andhra Pradesh but were released on bail.

As per CBI sources, during the EAMCET scam in 2010, Ganga Dhar made the plan of getting the paper leaked while Gurivi was the one who worked out the technological details. “Since Ganga Dhar did not have much knowledge about how technology can be used for cheating, he approached Gurivi Reddy who at that time was a third year MBBS student,” said a CBI source.

In the course of interrogation, the CBI sleuths have established that Gurivi was introduced to this entire idea by Ganga Dhar. “When we had asked Gurivi Reddy how he got the idea, he said that his accomplice Ganga Dhar was the one who introduced him to this entire plan,” the CBI source said.

In July 2010, Gurivi had filed a writ petition saying that the authorities of the Shantiram Medical College, Kurmool, did not have the “power” to suspend him. The petition was allowed by a court in Andhra Pradesh to attend classes. Gurivi is currently a student of MBBS final year, added the CBI source.
