Meerut Divisional Forest Officer Lalit Kumar Verma said they had collected pug marks from four places near Mango orchards at Agwanpur village. However, he denied that the animals could be wild dogs saying these are not found in the Meerut forest. Verma said the team of Wildlife Trust of India experts and forest officials which is moving in the area, has also reported some sightings of group of animals similar to wolves or dogs. However, the animals were at a distance from the team so they could not identify these.
According to forest officials, since August 27 the animals have killed three women and injured one at different places in Agwanpur, Neemka and Narangpur villages.
