The music festival being organised by Crraft of Art is in its third year. This year, with the performance of Astad Deboo, a recipient of Sangeet Natak Academy Award and Padamshree, an element of dance will be added along with music.
Deboo, during his 40-year-career in contemporary dance, has performed in more than 65 countries. Around 35 artistes will be performing during the two-day festival.
Another prominent artiste to perform on the first day of “Celebrating Heritage” festival will be internationally acclaimed Sufi Quwwals Rizwan and Muazzam Ali Khan, who belong to lineage of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
Second day of the festival at Adalaj-ni-Vav will include performances by contemporary Indian dancer Astad Deboo, tabla maestro Ustad Fazal Quereshi along with ghatam maestro and Padmashree awardee VidwanT H Vikku Vinayakram.
Birwa Quershi, the founder of Crraft of Art while addressing mediapersons on Monday, said, “With the main objective of bringing people close to these architectural and heritage monuments, we are expecting around 8,000-10,000 people this year.”
She also talked of plans to organise a full-fledged heritage festival at Champaner in Pavagadh near Vadodara in the coming years. “It will be a different kind of experience for the visitors as there are plans of events including art exhibitions, merchandising, food courts at around 6-7 monuments in Champaner.”
