Mumbai, February 6 If this vision actually dictates the final design of this suburban railway station complex, Navi Mumbai's Seawoods Railway Station would be the first in the metropolitan region to have not only multi-level parking, ample security and surveillance systems but also a traffic management plan, emergency and accident healthcare facilities. As the City Industrial and Development Corporation (CIDCO) readies to award to Larsen & Toubro a contract for designing and building the station and its integrated commercial complex, officials said the plan is for an “iconic multi-activity lifestyle hub” comprising a “high-end” mall and even service apartments.

While the total development is to be spread across nearly 40 acres, the proposed built-up area of 33,90,477 sq feet is to include a mall spread across 5,08,633 square feet, offices across 26,78,799 sq ft and hospitality or service apartments occupying 2,03,453 sq ft.

“This mix will functionally and economically form part of the integrated complex, enhancing the destination value for the entire location,” said a CIDCO official. While the mall will include large format stores “to attract international mall operators” and a multiplex, the reasoning behind including service apartments is that with increased commercial activity in Navi Mumbai, there has been an increasing demand for business hotels and for three- and four-star hospitality facilities.

“The world-class development of this land parcel will be a catalyst and give a tremendous boost to commercial activities in the surrounding areas by attracting large national and multinational operators to set up activities in Navi Mumbai,” said an official statement released by CIDCO.
