Pune The traffic police department will implement traffic and parking changes in Shivajinagar and Swargate area with immediate effect.

The department has introduced a no-parking zone from Sancheti Chowk to S G Barve Chowk (Modern Café chowk) to Simla office chowk. Similarly, a no-parking zone will be implemented on the 25 metres between Sant Dnyaneshwar Paduka chowk on Fergusson College Road and Fergusson College hostel where four-wheeler parking was being implemented. Also, there will be a no-parking zone for 15 metres on the road adjoining Sant Dnyaneshwar Paduka temple, off F C Road that goes towards Wadarwadi, said Manoj Patil, deputy commissioner of police (traffic).

Patil said from Thursday, a pay-and-park scheme was being implemented on either side of the road from Om Super Market in Model Colony to Shivaji Housing Society chowk. In Swargate division, entry for vehicles from Kaka Halwai Industrial Estate Road to Pune-Satara Road has been banned with immediate effect.

The changes are being implemented after considering suggestions and objections received from the public, Patil said in a press note.

The traffic department has also proposed various changes pertaining to one-ways and P1 and P2 schemes near Jangli Maharaj Road and F C Road to ease traffic in these areas. The department has called for suggestions and objections from the public with respect to these proposed changes.

The department has come up with four proposals — to ban parking on 15-metre-stretch between Jhansi Rani Chowk to Hotel Pearl, only two-wheeler parking between Hotel Gandharva and Joshi Wadewale and only four-wheeler parking on the opposite side of the road near Savarkar Bhavan would be allowed. The fourth proposal is to start a four-wheeler parallel parking scheme on Shirole lane (off F C Road) till Rajlaxmi Building, said Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (traffic).

Citizens who wish to send suggestions or objections may contact the DCP office, traffic control department, Pune Commissionerate, Sadhu Vaswani Road, before May 12. The final decision will be taken after considering these suggestions and objections.
