Sources said Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar recently asked his men to keep an eye on crime suspects in border areas. Police have been troubled by gangs from Mewat, Haryana, who enter Delhi with the intention to rob.

This was one of the main points discussed during the inter-state coordination meeting held last month between senior police officers. A list of gangs from Mewat has been prepared by the Crime Branch.

In their internal report on gangs of Mewat, police observed that many criminals ignored the ‘stop’ call by police and also attacked police personnel. There have been instances of gangs hurling stones at police teams.

Police stations such as Najafgarh and those in Dwarka are using tyre deflaters. In police stations like Alipur and Burari, sources said, policemen carry an extra set of chain deflaters.
