Here's another sensible offering from the versatile Marathi film industry — Nirop — that is all set to release in Pune on March 21. Nirop is a story of Shekhar, a young music composer who is migrating to France. The film takes place in a traditional house in Konkan where Shekhar has come for weekend with his wife- Jui and his friends. Nirop tries to capture the last week in the life of this composer who has lots of emotions buried in his mind, which have never surfaced till date. The story takes place in the picturesque background of Konkan, the costal Maharashtra . Sachin Kundalkar, whose earlier work Restaurant starring Sonali Kulkarni was appreciated at various film festivals, has directed the film.

The website of the film- Nirop, was inaugurated by classical vocalist Kalapini Komkali on March 9, at a special preview of the film at National Film Archives of India (NFAI). The entire cast and the crew was present for the event along with the filmmakers Sumitra Bhave , Sunil Sukthankar , Amol Palekar and senior actor Dr Shreeram Lagoo, for the inaugration of the website of the film which is going to release in Pune on March 21.

A Pune-based writer and director, Kundalkar has also written the script for Nirop. "It is a mysterious and funny story. At a point it progresses as a holiday story and on the other level we enter the minds of each of the character unveiling their deep desires and feelings for each other. At the end we see everyone as different human beings as they appeared in the beginning," says Kundalkar.

Sameer Dharmadhikari, Devika Daftardar, Seema Deshmukh are the main actors in the film supported by Aastad Kale, Ujwala Jog and Shreeram Ranade. Interestingly, Cyril Larrieu a filmmaker from France is also doing his debut as an actor with this film.

Kundalkar has also written the script for Nirop. "The film has a lot of silent shots. There is measured dialogue and the film talks but it simply doesn't employ a lot of words," says Kundalkar. He also feels that this is the best time for Marathi filmmakers, as the maharashtrian audience is getting groomed to watch meaningful cinema. "I want to make entertaining, bright and independent movies," says Kundalkar. Well, he's certainly headed in the right direction .
