Rights panel seeks report on ‘missing organs’ case

Kolkata Kolkata: The West Bengal Human Rights Commission (WBHRC) on Thursday ordered the director of state health services and the SP of South 24-Parganas to submit a report in three weeks regarding the death of a 27-year-old woman in a private nursing home at Sonarpur. WBHRC received a complaint from one Mantu Sardar, who alleged that his wife, who was admitted to a nursing home on October 9 with abdominal pain and had undergone a surgery on October 20, died on November 30. He has also alleged that some organs of her wife were removed by the nursing home.

Govt encouraging communalism: CPM

One held for betting

Kolkata: A 42-year-old Delhi resident was arrested on Thursday in Kolkata’s Beliaghata area on charges of betting in cricket. “Dinesh Gupta was arrested while he was organising online betting. One laptop and one mobile phone has been seized from him,” said police.
