Ghaziabad A Samajwadi Party leader and former councillor in Ghaziabad Nagar Parishad was shot dead by men on motorcycles in Loni, Ghaziabad, around 9 pm Sunday.

Police suspect a family feud led to the murder of Vinod Gujjar, who was shot in his colony.

“Gujjar had gone to a medicine shop when a group of men on motorcycles shot at him. Several rounds were fired. He died from a shot to the head. The attack seems well planned. Investigations have revealed that the assailants were waiting for him,” a police officer said.

Gujjar was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

“Gujjar’s uncle was also shot dead a few months ago. There seems to be some dispute over land. With his rise in politics, he made many enemies. Based on the complaint from the family, a case against seven people has been registered. No formal arrests will be made until the investigation is complete,” a senior police officer said.
