Late Satyendra Dubey, Sanjeeb Singh Katiyar, Ajay Shankar Dubey and RTI activist Subhash Chandra Agrawal were jointly awarded for their fight against corruption.
Satyendra Dubey had exposed alleged siphoning of funds in the NHAI, while Katiyar has been highlighting the ills of corruption through street plays. Ajay Shankar Dubey is a whistleblower in several mining lease cases and MGNREGS in Madhya Pradesh.
They were among 20 outstanding citizens from eight different fields to be honoured by the Sitaram Jindal Foundation this year.
The other awardees were Vijay P Bhatkar, for his work in the field of science and technology, Bharat Lok Shiksha Parishad for peace, social harmony and social development.
The award for agriculture, rural development and poverty alleviation — which carried cash prize of Rs 1 crore — was jointly conferred on BAIF Development Research Foundation, Pune, the Rashtriya Seva Samithi, Tirupati.
The Bhagwan Mahaveer Vikalang Sahayata Samiti, which has been providing 20,000 artificial limbs per year, and the Narain Seva Sansthan of Udaipur, which gives free treatment and rehabilitation to polio-affected people, received the award for exceptional social service.
