Rajkot The Mundra police in Kutch district have arrested a youth for his Facebook posts and pictures that allegedly hurt the sentiments of a community.

The posts, according to police, called Vishwa Hindu Parishad international secretary Pravin Togadia “biggest terrorist”, advocated a “green flag for Somnath temple” and supported “cow slaughter”, which is banned in Gujarat.

Acting on a complaint filed by Sanjay Bapat, president of Shiv Sena unit in Mundra, the police arrested 23-year-old Izaz Alam in early hours of Wednesday.

The police said an FIR had been registered and Alam booked for hurting religious sentiments and under provisions related to information technology. “We will produce him in a court to seek remand,” said Mundra police.

Police said Alam was a worker in a local industrial unit.
