SPIC-MACAY festival from Aug 17

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA  
NEW DELHI, August 9: A cultural potpourri peppered with performances by the country's leading artists, including Shehnai maestro Ustad Bismillah Khan and Santoor wizard Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, is all set to enthrall Delhiites at SPIC-MACAY's Virasat festival, beginning here on August 17.

To be inaugurated by Odissi exponent Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra with a dance recital at the St Stephen's College, the month-long festival is dedicated to Assamese litterateur Virendra Kumar Bhattacharya and Kuddiyatam maestro Guru Mani Madhava Chakyar.

A unique feature of the event will be workshops by stage personality Habib Tanvir, painter Anjolie Ela Menon, puppetry expert Dadi Padamjee and vocalist Mukul Shivputra.
